The fourth season of True Blood will contain 12 episodes and will premiere in summer 2011.[47] It will be loosely based on the fourth novel in The Southern Vampire Mysteries series, Dead to the World.[48] Creator Alan Ball has confirmed that, as in the novel, witches will play a major part in the fourth season and that Eric will lose his memory.
